picture around whenever you want.
So, my previous two blogs gave you an insight into the origin story behind Gallery Systems, how the products came about and how I ended up owning the business.
However, I hear some of you say, BUT what actually is a hanging system for art?
Before I dive into what the product is let me set the scene for you with my experience before I knew what a hanging system for art was.
When my husband and I bought our first house, we had a bunch of pictures to hang up as everyone usually does. I worked out where I wanted everything and gave my husband the run down. Armed with a hammer and nails we gradually put everything up. But not without some heartache and boy did it take a long time. I think we were trying to get pictures on the wall for a whole weekend! And we really didn’t have that many pictures.
More often than not the pictures were not where I wanted them or didn’t line up properly, so we ended up having to move the nails. Yes, leaving many unsightly holes in the walls. I am sure I am not telling you anything new.
So how do we solve this problem? A hanging system for art of course!
I know when I first received that call from Bruce asking me in for an interview for the job as his assistant, I had no idea what the product was. Even on my first day of work for the business I was still not too sure. However, after I was given the grand tour of the factory on my first day of work, I gradually came to understand that the whole system is actually not that complicated and boy I wish I had known about this sooner!
A basic system consists of –
- Aluminium track (screwed to the wall, generally up near the ceiling)
- Hangers — unobtrusive Clear Tape, Clearline or Stainless-Steel Cable, hangs down the wall from the track.
- Adjustable hooks — are threaded onto the hangers and hold up your art.
The benefits of using a gallery hanging system are –
- Install the system once and that’s it, no more nails in the walls ever again!
- The ease of being able to align your art so everything is lined up perfectly (either horizontally or vertically), resulting in a really beautiful display of your precious works.

One picture under the other, perfectly aligned and the hangers are almost invisible!
You don’t have to have a Picasso collection to enjoy the benefits of owning a hanging system for your art.
If you own a wall, and if you have photographs, art, prints, or anything in between, you can use one of Gallery Systems’ products to hang your art.
Another benefit of a hanging system is that it must be as unobtrusive as possible. All our systems offer this quality which we have worked hard at achieving over the years. Most people have probably seen hanging systems in art galleries and museums, though not realise it. We know we have done our job properly if you can say you have not seen one.

As I mentioned in my previous blog, we have been in this business for over 38 years. You can rest assured that we pretty much have the ‘hang of it’ by now! Thought I would throw that one in.
